Irene Florence Kleinsmith

Irene F. Kleinsmith, 90, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died on Friday afternoon, May 11, 2012, at the Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, May 16, 2012, from the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa. Irene Florence Frandsen was born on September 29, 1921 in rural Maquoketa, Iowa, to Carl Peter and Florence (Scott) Frandsen. She was a 1941 graduate of Baldwin High School where she was class valedictorian. She married Gail Norman Kleinsmith on September 8, 1945 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2000. Irene had worked at Jane Lamb and Schick Hospitals in Clinton, and then worked at the ASCS office in Maquoketa for several years. Irene was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Irene loved baseball and was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
